Our company

Joan Gassó Bosch was born in Barcelona in 1921. From childhood he was an avid reader with a curiosity and desire to learn that made him an intelligent and restless youth. He studied International Trade and graduated in Law. When he was just 14 years old, he joined the finance company where his father had worked but his highly enterprising spirit led to his constant involvement in a host of projects. His unerring commitment to his work and gift for leadership placed him among the world’s hearing aid elite and he even sat on the presidential table of the World Convention on Hearing Aids. In 1998 he received the Gold Insignia from the Asociación Nacional de Audioprotesistas (Spanish Association of Hearing Aid Specialists) in recognition of his work for the profession.

ORIGINS

The company dates back to 1949, when Juan Gassó Bosch and José María Espoy founded the distribution company Gaes, based on the request of a friend's father to bring a aid from England. The great demand for these devices and Mr Gassó’s entrepreneurial spirit were key factors in achieving success. In a short period of time, the business experienced strong growth, becoming the most important company in the sector and currently reaching the figure of 500 hearing establishments around the world.

Importing hearing aids was the initial activity of the company, which would gradually expand its business, despite the many difficulties that the two partners had to overcome in order to import those products into the Spanish market.
MICROSON, THE ONLY HEARING AID MANUFACTURER IN SPAIN

In 1958, the founders of Gaes took a further step in their hearing adventure and founded Microson, the only manufacturing brand of hearing aids in Spain. As part of the Gaes group, Microson was founded to provide the hard of hearing with access to cutting-edge hearing aids and to guarantee the best value for money on the market.

In 2019, Microson merged with Amplifon, a global leader in the hearing retail market, enabling people to rediscover all the emotions of sound. Amplifon operates through a network of nearly 11,000 points of sale and 16,000 employees in 29 countries and 5 continents. For more information about the company, please visit the group's website.

In 2021, succeeded in certifying its earmolds to the MDD (Medical Device Directive) and subsequently to the new MDR (Medical Device Regulation). A regulation that further increases controls over the entire manufacturing processes, making it mandatory at all stages of the manufacturing process to maintain traceability of each stage, of the materials used and their biocompatibility, and also of the level of compliance with the medical device regulation by our suppliers.

Microson's operations center in Barcelona occupies some 1000 m2 and employs 50 professionals. It has the latest manufacturing technologies and a long experience in 3D additive manufacturing.
TOP QUALITY

All Microson products are subject to stringent quality controls to ensure that the product meets the highest standards. As a manufacturer of medical devices, Microson is EC certified, in addition to the EN ISO 13485 standard. For greater control and safety, each hearing aid can be traced by the serial number and lot number of its components.
